About Garage Operator
Chip and Linda Keen opened a four-bay auto repair shop in a small community on the Puget Sound in 1975. Known to locals as Hansville Repair, Hansvilles best (only) repair shop, the business continues to serve the community to this day.
Garage Operator started life in 1985 when Chip grew tired of keeping track of inventory using paper clips on 3x5 index cards. Five years later, the program had grown to become a full point-of-sale invoicing program. GOs first sale was made March 29th, 1991, to Ross Denny of Dennys Auto Service in Shelton, Washington, who uses it to this day.
Today GO has grown - in response to customer requests - to a full enterprise management system for independent auto repair shops. The current 32-bit graphical user interface Windows platform, first shipped in 1999, is used by businesses coast to coast, and has been shipped to five foreign countries.
Chip and Linda sold Hansville Repair to their long-time service advisor, Allen Otto, and his wife, Lynda, in 2001, but continue to keep offices in the same building, and maintain close contacts with the independent auto repair industry.
